The brilliant computer hacker Peter, who was about to make a killing by selling very valuable data, suddenly turns tail and flees when his paranoid wife - accidentally or deliberately - turns out to have drowned in the bath. As he can't stay in a hotel without a passport, he breaks into the apartment of absent inhabitants. His first victim is a crimi scriptwriter, whose notes he cleverly reorders. Then he combs the house of a lonely worker and gives him a hand in hes chess game with himself. Another favourite haven is the spotless apartment of a lonely young woman who is obsessed with scrubbing. In the meantime, he tries to sell his stolen computer files.
