When Carlo and Ester fall heavily in love, they are forced to choose between their own feelings and the feelings of others. Together they stand strong - claim their right to love - and experience a short but intense intimacy, where all the feelings which only the younger generation should ‘naturally feel’, bloom in full. Carlo is forced to live a quiet life in an old people’s home due to his wife’s Alzheimer’s disease. But everything changes the day he meets Ester, a lively, bridge-playing widow with morals which depend very much upon the situation. They try to suppress their feelings, as Carlo is still technically married, but their lust for life, sense of adventure and passion prevail.
