Dancing on the Edge of a Volcano (على حافة البركان)

Dancing on the edge of a volcano: it's a balancing act that rarely ends well. A disastrous outcome was also what you could expect from the film Costa Brava, Lebanon after 4 August 2020. On that day, a devastating explosion in the port of Beirut destroyed a part of the city. The film production offices and the homes of many crew members were also in ruins. Some were injured; the cameraman even lost an eye. Furthermore, the COVID-19 pandemic was far from defeated, and the explosion led to severe fuel shortage and the depreciation of the Lebanese pound. But the film crew didn't give up, fought back, and, yes, Costa Brava, Lebanon was completed and premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2021. The documentary Dancing on the Edge of a Volcano tells the story of the courageous men and women who made it happen.
