Dialogue:
Dutch
From the moment Ben Mertens is introduced by the KVP (the Catholic People's Party) by politician Herbert van de Wall he acts as a public relations man for the party and its leaders. He is the first spin doctor in Dutch politics. After having risen to great heights he becomes overworked. After a morphine treatment he gets addicted. The more he is (ab)used by politicians and businessmen, the deeper his megalomania grows, until he finally ends up in the hospital, where he dies of an overdose of morphine. Attempts to sue the doctor who provided him so long with morphine fail and the whole affair ends up being covered up. Reconstruction of a Dutch political scandal from the sixties.
