Elizabeth Tudor was a very modern woman. The daughter of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn, she possessed an independent spirit and an iron will. Proclaimed Queen of England in 1558, one of her great achievements was that she lived to die naturally in an age when many of her contemporaries met untimely deaths. She ruled in a male-dominated age and was quick to learn how inevitably and dangerously the forces of betrayal and conspiracy would constantly test her both as a woman and as a monarch. Against this historical backdrop is woven the story of “Elizabeth”, a historical thriller which focuses on her life as a princess and the uncertain beginning of her reign as Queen.
