Lucas travels with his mother to the South of France to the home of her birth. There he renews his friendship with Caitlin, staying at the convent next door. When their friendship develops into love, Caitlin reveals dark secrets of Lucas’ grandfather, who betrayed a group of Jewish children during World War II, leading to the death of both children and the nuns of the convent. Meanwhile, at a small town nearby, racial tension is mounting against a group of foreign refugees and Lucas finds himself under the spell of Benoit, a smooth talking extremist who draws him into violent actions. Lucas and Caitlin are falling in love, but this love is threatened by a tragic event as well as by the dramatic echo of his grandfather’s shameful past.
