Bille August, who makes his debut as a director of feature films here, is a photographer and was cameraman for Jon Lindstrøm’s ‘Home in the Night’ and Jørn Donner’s ‘Men Can’t be Raped’. The main character in the film is Jens, a man in his mid-20’s. He’s an uncomplicated individual who regards society as something equally uncomplicated. Everything has its almost predetermined course and value, until one day when he is confronted with love and happiness and from then on experiences the world as something more complex than what he had expected. Jens is suddenly shaken out of his naivity - his dream is smashed. The film is an argument for the most profound and the best in people.
