Few Eastern European filmmakers achieved worldwide fame like Sergei Paradjanov. With films like Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors and The Colour of Pomegranates, the Georgian director put himself on the map as an idiosyncratic arthouse director, but also sealed his own fate as an enemy of the Soviet regime. What role can his artistic legacy play in a world without a Wall, where tensions are nevertheless growing? With "I will revenge this world with LOVE" S.Paradjanov director Zara Jian goes back to her homeland Armenia and finds in Parajanov's work an exampke of how to live. His home becomes a place of inspiration and a point of no return to toxic reality. Through Paradjanov's life and work, the theme of human freedom in unfree conditions, limited by the boundaries of a totalitarian state or the barbed wire around a camp, takes on new meaning.
