Carla is a gynaecologist married to Marco, a 'front line' judge. She leads a fearful life, under the constant threat that her husband - who is investigating into a sophisticated arms-running market, unveiled by previous enquiries concerning a case of bribery and corruption - be assassînated any minute. Her fears come true, and she is crushed by pain and left in mourning. But Carla manages to react, overcoming her grief and setting out to seek the truth. Together with other women who share her plight, she attempts to bring down the wall of silence surrounding the crimes which grieve and wound Italy.
