Forced into exile to escape persecution Pablo Neruda, the renowned Chilean poet and diplomat, visits Capri in 1952. Beguiled by the island's beauty he decides to stay there. This films tells the imaginative story of his stay. Being a famous politician and writer, Neruda attracts banner headlines with his arrival on Capri. Soon, the tiny island post office is bursting with letters. Needing help with the mountains of mail, the postman hires Mario, a youngster who refuses to go to sea and follow the other fishermen in his family. Mario's eyes are openend to a world of new possibilities when he finds himself delivering letters to Neruda...
