Earlier this year, Inshallah a Boy was the first Jordanian film ever to be selected for the Cannes Film Festival. A beautiful accomplishment, but what makes the film really special is its theme. When Nawal's husband dies unexpectedly, leaving her with a young daughter, everyone initially reacts with empathy. But then she gets embroiled in a legal battle with her brother-in-law. In his feature debut, Amjad Al Rasheed criticises this blatant inequality and shows that women in Lebanon are determined to end misogyny.
