He finds himself being talked into taking part in an evening class in Italian by the affable receptionist at his hotel. There he encounters a group a lonely hearts: Olympia, a charming pastry shop assistant, who suffers of her father’s verbal attacks; Karen, a shy hairdresser with a mother ravaged by alcohol; Hal-Finn, a good-looking waiter; Giulia, who works in the kitchen of a restaurant and Jørgen Mortensen, whom she has fallen in love with.
