Mehmet and Berzan are both from Anatolia - Mehmet from the east and Berzan from the western part of the region. The reasons why these two men have come to Istanbul may vary but what they share is their hope for a new start in life and a better future - although their visions for that future are quite different. Following a long, discouraging search for work, Mehmet finally finds a job working for the water works, where his excellent sense of hearing stands him in good stead. Istanbul’s water supply is always breaking down and Mehmet’s job involves listening to the pipes to locate and repair any leaks. He shares an apartment with six others who are new to the city and just as Mehmet lost in their dreams.
