“The Well” is a richly symbolic and emotional epic about communism’s failed humanity that unfolds with the vividness of a dream - or a nightmare. Spanning several decades, the story opens in 1944 on the day the Communists seized power in Bulgaria. Two children are born on the same night: a girl whose father is executed as traitor, and a boy whose father leads the slaughter. The lives and fates of the children prove inextricably linked, first as playmates who find escape and comfort together, and later as young adults coping with the far - from - perfect world their parents created.
