La passion selon Béatrice

"The man of her life", this is how actress Béatrice Dalle refers to filmmaker, poet and writer Pier Paolo Pasolini who was murdered in 1975. "I must be a necrophiliac", she smiles, showing off her famous gap between her front teeth. La passion selon Béatrice follows her emotional journey through Italy in the footsteps of Pasolini. From his hometown of Bologna in the north to Matera in the south, where he shot key scenes for Il vangelo secondo Matteo. Along the way, an infatuated Dalle talks to, among others, Abel Ferrara who made a biopic on the Italian icon. Belgian director Fabrice du Welz, whose work is marked by all-consuming love, films her in poetic black-and-white. The title evokes La Passion de Jeanne d'Arc, as do the intense close-ups of the human face so loved by Pasolini under Dreyer's influence.
