The rich Marquis Robert de la Chesnaye organizes a weekend house party at his country chateau that is attended by his mistress Geneviève, Octave and André Jurieux a pilot and the lover of the marquis' wife Christine. After a hunt, the complicated love intrigues among the high society guests are mirrored by parallel activities among the servants. The gamekeeper, Schumacher, is jealous of his wife, Lisette, and after a comic chase sequence during a fancy dress ball, sets out to hunt his wife's lover with a gun but ends up shooting the pilot.
