Lasse is a 12-year-old boy who dreams of becoming a professional cyclist and is completely uninterested in school. He has a close relationship with his father, a slaughterhouse worker crazy about Elvis Presley. On Christmas eve, it is accidentally revealed that Lasse's mother is expecting another man's child, Lasse must leave and move in with his mother and her new husband, the well-to-do dentist Hilden. When the boy discovers that he is slowly losing his identity and his roots in this new environment, he awakens and takes action.
