This is the story about the young boy Edevart and his friend August. August is an adventurer who arrives at Polden, -a poor village on the coast of Northern Norway. He tums the whole society upside down. His imaginations and well of ideas, his liberal attitude to factual events bring about hopes as well as chaos in his surroundings. The young boy Edevart is drawn to this fascinating adventurer, and a strong friendship develops between them. Edevart admires August and follows him around. Gradually, however, he sees through August and consequently starts making his own decisions and living his own life...
