To commemorate his 50th anniversary as a film director, Akira Kurosawa presents his 30th film, Madadayo (Not yet), a heartwarming story inspired by the works of the famous Japanese teacher and writer Hyakken Uchida whose life spanned 82 years from 1889 through 1971, a period of turbulent growth and change in Japan. The paths of these two prolific geniuses have many similarities as Kurosawa turns 83 this year and carries on the heavy workload of his fast-paced film production.
