101' - 1985 - Drama, Comedy - Dialogue: Swedish
My Life as a Dog is about the difficult art of growing up. It sounds like a sad story. But it's a happy one about a wordly wise, old-fashioned boy, Ingemar. There's a lot of sorrow in his life but he has dreams. He is surrounded by affection and is never abandoned - except by his nearest and dearest. But that's not their fault, neither is it his - it's life. He is at the awkward age between childhood and adolescence, between playing and falling in love. His father is somewhere in Africa. His mother has T.B. and lies in bed with her unfulfilled dreams, her longing to be of help to her sons and her dread of having to leave them. Yet she knows she must. Ingemar is sent to a kind uncle living in a small village... (Swedish Films 86)
