The spontaneity of the 1969 Woodstock concert is of course legendary. The fact that so many people gathered to make a statement about who they were and what they believed, still moves me, and I think stands as great cultural landmark. I wanted to know if twenty-five or thirty years later kids would still be inspired by that promise of self-discovery and what it was they had to say. Despite the contrasting energy, rebellion and music of each new Woodstock what remains constant is the search for what Allen Ginsberg describes as a ‘devine hunger for something better than what they’ve been given’.
