An old lady, Dagmar, lives in her flat in Copenhagen. She has daily conversations with the photo of her late husband. One day she is moved to an old people’s home, where she feels lonely and strange in the old atmosphere surrounding her. She meets a major, together they experience a short period of happiness. There is still much zest for life left in Dagmar.
Flashbacks to her youth as a dancer in a circus are used. A film about the poor and pathetic situation of old people today.
