No Other Land

Five years back, Palestinian activist-journalist Basel Adra met Israeli investigative journalist Yuval Abraham. Since his childhood, Basel has been fighting the gradual expulsion and destruction of his community in Masafer Yatta in the southern West Bank. Yuval supports him in his daily struggle against the occupying forces. The two are friends, despite the pressure their inequality has on them. From their meeting emerged the vital documentary No Other Land, made in collaboration with photographer-human rights advocate Hamdan Ballal and filmmaker Rachel Szor. Over the past twenty years, Basel's family and neighbours have collected an incredible archive of their own video footage. Those images are interwoven here with the recordings the filmmaking collective made from 2019 to 2023. Their audiovisual act of resistance was recognised in Berlin with the Documentary Award and the Panorama Audience Award, next to numerous (audience) awards at other international festivals.
