The portrait of a near mythical man, Brother André, a well-known figure fr0m the history of Quebec. For the film makers !here were two ways to handle their subject: first of all, to tell the story of the life of brother André in a straight way or secondly, to try to find in a par: of the history of Quebec the social roots and economic conditions which have produced this 'soft, withdrawn, humble and very good man'. They have chosen the second approach.
