Darkly Noon, a forlorn young man, staggers through a forest, clutching only a bible for comfort, until he collapses in a state of utter exhaustion. He is found by Jude who is delivering supplies to Callie and her lover who live in the forest. Callie, a natural beauty, sees the delirious Darkly, and tells Jude she will nurse him. Darkly soon recovers and he tells Callie it was the recent death of his parents that had caused him to be roaming alone. He knows no other way of life than that instilled into him by his fanatically religious parents. He has been raised by a sect with few outside influences...
