This Welsh movie invites comparisons with Bill Douglas and Terence Davies For the childhood recalled by a midnight visitor to the village where he grew up is hard and haunted, yet also transfigured. Sexuality and religion are intertwined in the man's memories of church, school and the violence that results from his mother's paranoid obsession. As a boy he struggles to make sense of a mysterious world around him, inventing games and rituals which give way to nightmares, visions and dangerous fantasies. lnevitably, his moonlit recollections climax in madness and murder.
