Why We Fight? is a cinematographic film that tries to understand the violence around us, but also within ourselves, in order to better cope with the world today.
Why We Fight? is directed by one of Belgium’s most famous choreographers Alain Platel, together with the photographer Myriam Devriendt.
Through the vision of 3 dancers, and linking the body to the mind, the film tries to
understand violence outside in the world but also inside ourselves.
Using various types of imagery and visual metaphors, the film analyses social change, the
lack of emotional processing and the power of humanity, which always seems to
balance between creating something spectacularly beautiful and something horribly cruel.
