About the film

Unemployed Ki-taek and his family live a poor existence in a cramped house. When they discover the wealthy Park family, they see an opportunity to change their fate. By cleverly capitalising on the Parks' luxurious lifestyle, they infiltrate their world bit by bit. But then comes an unexpected twist that turns everything upside down. The family must risk everything to protect their new life.

With Parasite, director Bong Joon-ho wrote an honest history of class struggle and inequality in South Korea, but with delicious dark humour. Between comedy, thriller and drama, the film shows the terrifying reality of everyday life.

Parasite
won the Golden Palm at Cannes, the audience award at the International Film Festival of Rotterdam and four Oscars, including the one for Best Film. This made Parasite the first non-English-language film to receive this Oscar in Hollywood.

What drives you as an artist? What do you want to achieve? And above all, what do you need to achieve your goals?

The teenage and youth work of VZW Jong has been working on talent development for quite some time. In recent years, they have invested heavily in a cross-district music project called "Gentertainment" to create artistic opportunities for youth in Ghent. Music functions as the ultimate binding agent to support and encourage (Ghent's) youth both artistically and socially. "Whether you sing, rap, produce, DJ or play an instrument, Gentertainment is all about your passion and talent". Currently, the focus is on the musical part but they want to open this up to film, among other things.
