L'Enfant Best Belgian Film 2005

At this year's Joseph Plateau Award Ceremony, L'Enfant by Luc & Jean-Pierre was elected as Best Belgian Film 2005. The film won in total five awards: Best Film, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Actor and Best Screenplay. It's already the fourth time that the brothers Dardenne won the award for Best Belgian Film.
Nominated in five categories, L'Enfant won just as much Joseph Plateau Awards: Best Film, Best Director (Luc & Jean-Pierre Dardenne), Best Actress (Deborah François), Best Actor (Jérémie Renier) and Best Screenplay (Luc & Jean-Pierre Dardenne). In the past years the brothers Dardenne won already the Joseph Plateau Award for Best Belgian Film for La Promesse (1996), Rosetta (1999) and Le Fils (2002).
Other prizes went to Georges Van Dam, who won the Joseph Plateau Award for Best Belgian Composer for Friday or Another Day, and Danny Elsen who won the Joseph Plateau Award for Best Belgian Cinematographer (The Wedding Party / Buitenspel / Friday or Another Day / Long Weekend)
The Joseph Plateau for Best Belgian Short went to Forever by Jonas Govaerts.
And finally, Gilles by Jan Verheyen took home the Box Office Award.
