'Martin Scorsese' educational project
18 Jun 2013
Film Fest Gent presents a new educational project, an interactive workshop in which pupils in the two last years of secondary education learn to watch the films of Martin Scorsese together with Gerrit Vosters of the non-profit association Filmstof. What makes Scorsese one of the most influential directors in film history, both in terms of content and form? What are recurrent elements in his films and how does he distinguish himself from other directors? The workshop ends with a visit of the exhibition at the Provincial centre for culture Caermersklooster. Participating teachers can visit the exhibition free of charge on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 October. Associations and other groups can also book this workshop.
Gerrit Vosters, who holds a Master degree in Germanic Philology and in film studies and visual culture, has been teaching Dutch, English and film analysis for eighteen years at the H. Pius X Institute in Antwerp. He also works as a freelancer for the educational unit of the Flemish Service for Film Culture, developing interactive viewing workshops on film and visual language. Workshop + exhibition visit From 16 October to 23 January, on Wednesdays and Thursdays. €9 / participant, free for supervising teachers. Also available for associations and other groups.
