Rewatch the talks of FFG2024
Director's Talk: Michel Khleifi
Since the very beginning of his career, Michel Khleifi has been pushing boundaries. In the 1980s, with Fertile Memory, he was the first to shoot a feature film in the occupied Jordan West Bank. A few years later, he was the first Palestinian filmmaker to appear on the red carpet at Cannes, where he was awarded for his international breakthrough Noce en Galilée.
At FFG2024, moderator Brian Windelinckx talked to the Brussels-based Palestinian filmmaker. Khleifi also received a Joseph Plateau Honorary Award, in recognition of his films about the consequences of Israel's occupation of Palestine.
FFG Talkie: Small Things Like These
With Small Things Like These, the official opening film of the 51st edition of Film Fest Gent, Belgian director Tim Mielants turns the spotlight on a dark page of Irish history. Actresses Eileen Walsh and Zara Devlin, both born and raised in Ireland, discussed the film with moderator Ben Van Alboom during one of the FFG Talkies at FFG2024.
