Romy Schneider exhibition at Caermersklooster as part of Ghent Film Festival 05 Jul 2012
On the initiative of and in collaboration with the Ghent Film Festival, the Province of East Flanders presents the exhibition "Romy Schneider". The exhibition, organised by Deutsche Kinemathek - Museum für Film und Fernsehen, Berlin, offers an intimate insight into the career and tragic personal life of this icon of European cinema. It will run from 12 October 2012 to 13 January 2013 at the Caermersklooster - Provincial Cultural Centre.
"007 in concert: Flemish talents sing James Bond" 21 Aug 2012
On Thursday 18 and Sunday 21 October the Ghent Film Festival and Belgian TV station, één, are presenting "007 in concert" at 't Kuipke in Ghent. This unique concert will feature Flemish stars and the Brussels Philharmonic, conducted by Dirk Brossé, performing special versions of legendary Bond songs. The concert marks the release of the new James Bond film 'Skyfall' on 26 October, as well as the 50th anniversary of the very first James Bond film 'Dr. No'.

A logical choice, cause the Dutch sound designer looms large on this year's program. Martine Huvenne, film music teacher at Hogeschool Gent is once again the curator of the seminar.
Almost Cinema: another look at cinema 26 Sep 2012
The Almost Cinema festival by Vooruit and the Film Festival Ghent is a favourite on the Vooruit agenda. Central to the event is the twelve-day exhibition at Vooruit which shows a different take on cinema. In the form of projections and installations, artists present their interpretation of cinema. You will also be able to enjoy plenty of unique concerts and performances inspired by cinema. Once again, Almost Cinema will present interesting artists, artworks and performances that provide a refreshing look at a familiar concept.

Nicolas Karakatsanis has won the Jo Röpcke Award 2012. The prize, named after the legendary film critic Jo Röpcke, is awarded annually by the magazine Knack Focus during the Ghent Film Festival and goes to a man or a woman who made a remarkable contribution to the success of the Flemish cinema.
Ezra Miller ''We Need To Talk About Kevin') presents new film in Gent 15 Oct 2012
Ezra Miller, the leading actor from the controversial film 'We Need To Talk About Kevin' will present Stephen Chbosky's 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower' at the Ghent Film Festival on Thursday October 18. Besides Miller, the film also stars Emma Watson (from the Harry Potter series) , Logan Lerman ('Percy Jackson & The Olympians: the Lightning Thief'). It will be the third time Ezra makes an appearance on the festival, after 'CIty Island' with Andy Garcia in 2009 and 'We Need To Talk About Kevin' with Tilda Swinton in 2011.
