Christopher Plummer to receive honorary Joseph Plateau award at Film Fest Gent

On Wednesday 14 October, Christopher Plummer will receive the Joseph Plateau Honorary Award at the 42nd Film Fest Gent. With this accolade, the festival honours guests who have made a special contribution to the art of filmmaking. “If there is one actor deserving of the Joseph Plateau Award then it is this immensely versatile and talented Canadian icon", claims the festival’s artistic director, Patrick Duynslaegher. Film Fest Gent will also screen 'Remember' the latest film by Atom Egoyan, starring Christopher Plummer.
Alexander Skarsgård and Marielle Heller to attend 42nd Film Fest Gent

Film Fest Gent is bringing Alexander Skarsgård and director Marielle Heller to the festival, together with the Belgian distributor of ‘The Diary of a Teenage Girl’ Lumière and producer Caviar. On Tuesday 20 October, the film will conclude the youth competition of the festival where the jury will announce the winner of the Explore Award.

The 42nd edition of Film Fest Gent (13 to 24 October 2015) kicks off with the opening film D'Ardennen by Robin Pront. A day earlier, however, there was a pre-opening screening of The Walk, directed by Robert Zemeckis. The closing film was Black Mass by Scott Cooper.
'Ixcanul' by Jayro Bustamante wins Grand Prix for Best Film at the 42nd Film Fest Gent

On Wednesday 21 October, the international jury of Film Fest Gent, led by jury president Sir Alan Parker, announced the winners of the different competitions. 'Ixcanul' by Jayro Bustamante won the Grand Prix for Best Film. The Georges Delerue Award for Best Soundtrack went to Johnnie Burn for the soundtrack of 'The Lobster' by Yorgos Lanthimos. The winners of the different short film competitions were also revealed.
This year’s international jury consisted of jury president Sir Alan Parker, Marjane Satrapi, Caroline Strubbe, Boyd van Hoeij and Franco Lolli.
15th World Soundtrack Awards announces second wave of nominees

Today the World Soundtrack Academy releases a second wave of nominees for Discovery of the Year, SABAM Award for Best Young International Composer and the Public Choice Award. Earlier last month the WSAcademy already revealed the nominees for Best Composer, Score and Song.

The World Soundtrack Academy announced the winners of the 15th World Soundtrack Awards, the closing event of the 42nd Film Fest Gent, on the evening of Saturday 24 October at Kuipke in Ghent.
16th World Soundtrack Awards: Composed for Television

Held on October 19th, the World Soundtrack Awards will celebrate its 16th edition focusing on television scores this year. Brussels Philharmonic and the Flemish Radio Choir will perform the compelling scores, conducted by Dirk Brossé and accompanied by film fragments on the big screen. The traditional film music concert will be held during the second part of the World Soundtrack Awards and will, for the first time, be repeated the day after the World Soundtrack Awards Gala on Oct 20th during the WSA Concert.Tickets for the World Soundtrack Awards Gala and the WSA Concert can be bought from 22nd of March.

Film Fest Gent and the World Soundtrack Awards offer you the chance to win the highly sought after SABAM Award for the Most Original Composition by a Young International Composer. This award, created by the World Soundtrack Academy, is worth € 2,500 plus the compositions of the three finalists will be performed by Brussels Philharmonic and the Flemish Radio Choir, conducted by maestro Dirk Brossé, during the 16th World Soundtrack Awards Gala.

The 16th edition of the World Soundtrack Awards shines the spotlight on television scores, showcasing the music from the most beloved television shows in recent history. Brussels Philharmonic and the Flemish Radio Choir will perform the scores from series including Fargo, Homeland, House of Cards, Sherlock and The Leftovers with composers JEFF RUSSO, SEAN CALLERY, JEFF BEAL, DAVID ARNOLD and MAX RICHTER in attendance. For the first time, the World Soundtrack Awards will feature two concert programs: the World Soundtrack Awards Gala – the traditional award ceremony and concert – on October 19th and a second WSA Concert without ceremony on October 20th.
