For its 46th edition, which will take place from 8 to 18 October, Film Fest Gent 2019 is bringing the Spanish cinematographic sphere to Ghent, traditionally with much emphasis on soundtracks. The opening film this year is Les Misérables by Ladj Ly, the festival closes with The Mustang by Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre.

'Öndög' and 'Monos' scoop up prizes at 46th Film Fest Gent 16 Oct 2019
'Öndög', by director and Golden Bear laureate Wang Quan'an ('Tuya's Marriage') has been awarded with the Grand Prix for Best Film. Meanwhile, Alejandro Landes' mysterious thriller, 'Monos', with a score from Mica Levi and Lena Esquenazi, has scooped up the Georges Delerue Award for Best Music and Sound Design. Pietro Marcello received a Special Jury Prize for Best Director for his 'Martin Eden'.
Alejandro Landes' 'Monos' wins the Explore Zone Award 18 Oct 2019
On Wednesday evening, 'Monos' received the Georges Delerue Award for Best Music and Sound Design. On Thursday, director Alejandro Landes received more good news. The Explore Zone Jury –made up of adolescents between 18 and 26 years old – has chosen his mystery-thriller fusion film as the winner of the Explore Zone Award.
World Soundtrack Awards 2019 winners announced 19 Oct 2019
For the 19th year in a row, the World Soundtrack Awards were announced during Film Fest Gent. The World Soundtrack Awards, one of the most imporant film music awards, place an emphasis on the oeuvres of special contributors to the world of film music. This year's winners are Nicholas Britell, Hildur Guðnadóttir, Lady Gaga, Frédéric Vercheval, Michael Abels, John Powell and Pierre Charles. Frédéric Devreese and Krzysztof Penderecki were both honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
