Every year in October Film Fest Gent inhabits the city. The heart of the festival can be found within and around Kinepolis Gent, where you can enjoy countless screenings, take in the atmosphere at the festival square and enjoy drinks at the festival café. You can also attend various Film Fest Gent screenings at different locations in the city centre, like Studio Skoop, Sphinx Cinema, art centre VIERNULVIER at De Vooruit and KASKcinema.

Discover the first nominees for the 21st World Soundtrack Awards! 06 Aug 2021
On behalf of the World Soundtrack Academy, Film Fest Ghent proudly presents the first batch of names for the prestigious World Soundtrack Awards 2021. The first round of nominees, in the categories of Film Composer of the Year, Television Composer of the Year and Best Original Song, includes established composers and emerging talent. Some composers even receive double nominations. Nicholas Britell, Daniel Pemberton and Emile Mosseri are nominated twice, with each of them obtaining a nod in the Best Original Song category. Thanks to this exciting mix of nominees, the World Soundtrack Awards again promises to be a special celebration of film music, honouring the best composers of the past year.
Belgian film 'La Civil' to open 48th Film Fest Ghent 13 Aug 2021
La Civil, the fiction debut of the Belgian-Romanian filmmaker Teodora Ana Mihai, is the official opening film of the 48th edition of Film Fest Ghent! The gripping drama about a Mexican mother whose daughter is abducted by a drug cartel had its world premiere at the Cannes film festival, where it won the Prix du Courage. The film is a compelling, fictionalised portrait of an everyday reality in Mexico, and gives a voice to the countless parents who experienced these hardships.

Discover the VIDEODROOM line-up! 24 Aug 2021
Film Fest Ghent and Arts Centre Voo?uit are collaborating for the fourth time for a new edition of VIDEODROOM. In October the festival will present exclusive nights that are bringing live music and film together. VIDEODROOM is taking place from 13 till 23 October. Tickets are now available.
First titles of FFG2021 revealed: 'Annette', 'Un monde', 'Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn' and more 27 Aug 2021
We reveal the first titles of the 48th edition. Homegrown talent will be represented by Laura Wandel with playground drama Un monde, and Vincent Meessen with Juste un mouvement. A hint of national pride can also be found in Annette, as Leos Carax' musical was filmed partly in Belgium. The Golden Bear will also be attending: the somewhat controversial Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn by Radu Jude. In the short film selection will Film Fest Gent shine the spotlight on Greek director Jacqueline Lentzou, whose feature film debut, Moon, 66 Questions, will also be screened. And lastly, Andrea Arnold's Cow will also be shown at Film Fest Ghent.
In Memoriam: Mikis Theodorakis 02 Sep 2021
Greek composer, author and politician Mikis Theodorakis has passed away at the age of 96 in Athens. Hij composed more than 1000 songs, cantates, operas and oratorios, music for ballet and for some sixty movies. His oeuvre can be considered a musical history of Greece. Yet Theodorakis wasn't just an acclaimed artist, he was also an outspoken political activist. He received many prestigious peace and music award. In 2007 he received the World Soundtrack Lifetime Achievement Award.
