Jean-Luc Godard lives on at 49th edition Film Fest Gent: two films on FFG programme
13 Sep 2022
Monsieur le cinéma is no more. Jean-Luc Godard, the legendary director behind iconic films such as À bout de souffle (1960), Le mépris (1963) and Pierrot le fou (1965) has died at the age of 91. The body of work he leaves behind is immense, and above all: immortal. Moreover, the oeuvre made about the greatest modernist in cinema is, if anything, even greater. The 49th edition of Film Fest Gent therefore presents two brand new works about Godard: À vendredi, Robinson (Mitra Farahani) and Godard seul le cinéma (Cyril Leuthy).

Sustainable festival visit
Film Fest Gent organises a ten-day festival and is aware of its ecological and social impact. We show around 150 films during more than 400 screenings, we invite film talent from all over the world to Ghent and we gather an international audience. The organisation of the festival inevitably generates CO2 emissions. Today, we are already making efforts to reduce our ecological footprint and increase our social impact. And we strive for more. Are you with us?
Director's Talks
Directors who speak beautifully about their work are the ones we like to invite! Hang on every word of the most interesting filmmakers of the moment during our Director's Talks. Michel Khleifi, Isadora Neves Marques, Guillaume Cailleau and Alain Guiraudie will be visiting Gent.
