'Close'-producer Dirk Impens wins Knack Focus' Jo Röpcke Award 2022 during FFG2022

Film producer Dirk Impens is this year's laureate of the Jo Röpcke Award, named after the former BRT film journalist. The magazine Knack Focus presents this annually during Film Fest Ghent to "someone who has made himself deserving for Flemish film".
Film Fest Gent supports Iranian cry for freedom

It was an emotional and moving premiere of Holy Spider on Saturday night at Film Fest Gent. During the Q&A afterwards, lead actor Zar Amir-Ebrahimi condemned the violent repression of the Iranian people: "This is about more than the hijab, this is about freedom", she said. The festival is deeply concerned about the violent response of of the Iranian authorities and supports Iranian citizens who are denied fundamental rights.

Neighbour Abdi, Cherries and Finn's Heel triumph at short film weekend Film Fest Gent 2022

On 16 October, during the Short Film Award Ceremony at the end of the short film weekend of the 49th Film Fest Gent, the International Short Film Jury announced the winners. Neighbour Abdi by Douwe Dijkstra received the Award for Best International Short. In the Competition for Belgian Student Shorts, Finn's Heel by Cato Kusters was crowned Best Belgian Student Short. The THE PACK Audience for Best Belgian Student Short, as voted by the festival audience, went to Merci pour votre patience! by Simon van der Zande.
