Festival's opening film receives standing ovation

The emotional and festive opening of the 31st Flanders International Film Festival - Ghent with the moving film Omagh certainly was a memorable occasion. Both director Pete Travis and the "real" Michael Gallagher and his daughter Cathy received a standing ovation of several minutes from the 2,500 guests.

This Saturday night as a main event of the 31st Flanders International Film Festival , the World Soundtrack Awards , promoting excellence in the art of music, were presented at the Bijloke in Ghent. Night of glitter and gala, where musicians and moviemakers alike are in their most natural environment, that became a real tribute to Gabriel Yared and the music of the movie 'Cold Mountain'.

The 32nd edition of the International Film Festival of Flanders (from 11 to 22 October 2005) opens with Merry Christmas by Christian Carion. This year art center Vooruit also shows a separate opening film: The Devil and Daniel Johnston by Jeff Feuerzeig. Dominique Deruddere’s De bloedbruiloft closes the festival.
