Japanese filmmaker Ryûsuke Hamaguchi receives Joseph Plateau Honorary Award at 50th anniversary edition Film Fest Gent

At the 50th edition of Film Fest Gent, Ryûsuke Hamaguchi, one of Japan's greatest directors of the 21st century, was honoured with a Joseph Plateau Honorary Award, a prize that recognises the filmmaker's piercingly beautiful oeuvre, including ten features that are all showcases of his eloquent style. Hamaguchi received the award after a Creative Partnership Talk with composer Eiko Ishibashi at the WSA Film Music Days.
Terence Davies receives posthumous Joseph Plateau Honorary Award at 50th edition Film Fest Gent

At the 50th anniversary edition of Film Fest Gent, British director Terence Davies posthumously received a Joseph Plateau Honorary Award, a prize that recognises the impact the filmmaker had on audiences worldwide throughout his decades-long career. Davies was to be present in Ghent to celebrate his work, but sadly passed away on 7 October at home after a short illness. Passing Time, his contribution to FFG's 2x25 project for which 25 filmmakers were inspired by 25 composers, was Davies' last short film.
'Los delincuentes' by Rodrigo Moreno and music from 'Poor Things' grab top prizes at 50th edition Film Fest Gent

Argentine director Rodrigo Moreno's beguiling tragicomedy Los delincuentes has won the Grand Prix for Best Film at the 50th anniversary edition of Film Fest Gent. The International Jury was taken by the unique rhythm and delicious absurdity of Moreno's enormously entertaining film. Debuting film composer's Jerskin Fendrix' stellar score for Yorgos Lanthimos' latest virtuoso masterstroke Poor Things grabbed the Georges Delerue Award for Best Original Music. A Special Mention in the festival's Official Competition went to actors Greta Lee, Yoo Teo and John Magaro for their performances in Past Lives by Celine Song.

Volker Bertelmann, Nicholas Britell and Amelia Warner among winners at 23rd World Soundtrack Awards

Volker Bertelmann has won the Film Composer of the Year Award at the 23rd World Soundtrack Awards Ceremony & Concert on Saturday 21 October at Capitole Ghent. He had been nominated in this category once before, and has now returned victorious. Nicholas Britell received the Television Composer of the Year Award. It is the second time in a row he has won this award, the third time he has won in this category and his sixth WSAward overall. “Your Personal Trash Man Can” from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 5 was presented with the Best Original Song Award and became the first song from a series to win the prize.
